Health Commissioner Declares First Code Blue Extreme Cold Alert of the Season

BALTIMORE, MD (January 3, 2022)— With winter weather throughout the area today and temperatures predicted to fall into the teens with wind chill, Health Commissioner Letitia Dzirasa today issued a Code Blue Extreme Cold declaration for Baltimore City beginning Monday afternoon, January 3 through Tuesday morning, January 4.  This is the first Code Blue Extreme Cold Alert for Baltimore City this season.

Health Department Announces Plan to Distribute Rapid At-Home COVID-19 Test Kits Through Community-Based Organizations Serving VALUE Communities 

BALTIMORE, MD. (Tuesday, November 30, 2021) – Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) is excited to participate in the distribution of free Abbott BinaxNOW Antigen at-home rapid COVID-19 test kits received from the Maryland Department of Health. BCHD will make COVID-19 rapid test kits available to eligible community-based organizations in limited quantities to be distributed to clients and community members.

Baltimore City Announces Beginning of Code Blue Extreme Cold Season

BALTIMORE, MD (November 15, 2021)—Mayor Brandon M. Scott and Health Commissioner Letitia Dzirasa today announced the start of Baltimore City’s Code Blue Extreme Cold program for the coming winter. Code Blue Extreme Cold is a multi-agency effort to reduce hypothermia deaths by protecting individuals experiencing homelessness, seniors, and other vulnerable populations from extreme cold weather.

(Friday, November 5th, 2021) –Today, Health Commissioner Dr. Letitia Dzirasa and the Baltimore Convention Center Field Hospital announced an appointment only pediatric vaccination clinic. This Saturday, November 6th, The Baltimore City Health Department in partnership with the Baltimore Convention Center Field Hospital and Five Medicine will hold a by appointment only 5-11 year old vaccination clinic at the Baltimore Convention Center Field Hospital from 8 am to 12 pm.
